Stephanie H. Shih explores the material relics of migration and colonialism through the lens of the Asian American diaspora. Her painted ceramic sculptures examine the relationship between cultural interchange, consumerism, and identity in immigrant communities.
Shih has had solo exhibitions in New York, Los Angeles, Miami, and at the Syracuse University Art Museum, which have been reviewed by the LA Times, Hyperallergic, and W Magazine. Her practice has also been supported with awards from the American Museum for Ceramic Art and Lighthouse Works. Activism is central to Shih’s practice, and since 2017 she’s raised over $100,000 for marginalized communities experiencing instability related to home through her art and platform.
