Meet the Artists

Laura Lappi

Laura Lappi explores how architecture and spatial environments shape our perceptions and influence reality. Her work delves into the experience and emotional charge of different places, often blurring the line between reality and fiction. Through her sculptural practice, she explores the intricate relationship between physical spaces, man-made structures, and the human mind, focusing on the psychogeography of places.

Born and raised in Finland, Lappi currently lives and works in Queens, New York. Her work has been exhibited internationally, including solo exhibitions at Firetti Contemporary, Dubai (2024), Galleria Sculptor, Helsinki (2023), Lorimoto Gallery, Queens (2019), and Galleria Uusi Kipinä, Lahti (2016), and group exhibitions at Madison Gallery in San Diego, SPRING/BREAK Art Show in New York, Abu Dhabi Art Fair in Abu Dhabi, Bronx Museum AIM Biennial in New York, DIFC Sculpture Park in Dubai and Riihimäki Art Museum in Riihimäki among others. She has been commissioned for public sculptures at LUT University in Finland (2025), Flushing Meadows Corona Park in Queens (2020) and The Yard in Colorado Springs (2018).

Lappi has held residencies at International Studio & Curatorial Program (ISCP) in New York, Yaddo in Saratoga Springs, Marble House Projects in Dorsett, SÍM in Reykjavik and Vermont Studio Center in Johnson. She has been awarded grants from Alfred Kordelin Foundation Finland, The Queens Council on the Arts, Arts Promotion Centre Finland and Finnish Cultural Foundation and fellowships at the Bronx Museum of the Arts and NYFA in New York. Lappi’s artworks have been acquired by Serlachius Museum in Finland and DIFC Sculpture Park public collection in Dubai.
