Meet the Artists

Jaiquan K Fayson (b. 1982) Drawing from his journey as born and raised New Yorker and formerly incarcerated individual, Jaiquan's work digs deep into the messy, beautiful layers of human emotion and existence. For him, art serves as both therapy and expression - a way to process trauma while asserting his humanity. A proud SVA alum, he earned his BFA in Illustration (2015) before returning to complete his Master of Arts in Teaching (2023), blending hard-won street wisdom with formal artistic training.  

 Working with oils, watercolors, and sculpture, he tackles heavy themes - loneliness, alienation, addiction - with the intimate knowledge of someone who's lived them. More than just self-expression, his creative practice is an act of healing and testimony. Based in NYC, Jaiquan continues to make work that's uncompromising, cathartic, and deeply human.
